Neighbourhood Plan: AGM Wrap Up

On Saturday 28 January, we welcomed in the new year with the Mabgate, Lincoln Green & Burmantofts Neighbourhood Forum AGM at The Anglers Club.

With the help of over 70 people living, residing and going to school in the area, we elected a new Chair and Secretary for the forum. Both are local residents and active members of the forum – helping to lead through another year and develop the Priorities Plan to be submitted in October.

We also heard from some of our partners like Burmantofts Senior Action, MAFWA, Leeds Refugee Forum and Leeds City Council about what is going on in the area. Younger people were able to play musical statues, as well as take part in painting and collage-making. All of this alongside a fantastic buffet from KF Bakery, making for a brilliant AGM!

What is a Priorities Plan?

A Priorities Plan is a piece of legislation, written by residents (and supported by East Street Arts and Leeds City Council), that sets out priorities for the development of the neighbourhood. Between now and August, through the monthly community-led forum meetings, we will write this legislation.  It will mean that once in place, the neighbourhood will have the legal grounds to reject or amend planning requests in the area, as well as protect and strengthen what we already have.

We need as many people as possible to be involved in this process to strengthen it and make sure that everyone is heard. You can get involved by attending forum meetings, or emailing emma.bf@esamail.org.uk for more information.

We have forum meetings coming up on the 4 March, and then the 25 March

Each meeting is 11am – 12noon, at East Street Arts, Convention House, LS9 7EH

At each meeting there is a creche, refreshments and art activities.
