The Honeymoon Suite is a space in which you can recharge and reflect, brought to you by Leeds-based artist Emma Bentley-Fox. The room creates a cosy, romantic space, but with two single beds removes itself from the clichés of classical romantic narratives. Instead, this is a space celebrating independence, platonic love and queer relationships.
Second-hand items and artefacts form the backdrop of the room, asking ‘What can objects tell us about their owners?’. These objects are collected by Emma and either found elsewhere or are personal to her. Throughout, there are nods and allusions towards queer culture, as well as what ‘British’ taste and class is. Objects that otherwise might be seen as trashy create a kitsch space that allows for rest and recuperation through nostalgia and comfort.
