2019 – Friday 22 November (5pm) and Saturday 23 November (10am – 4pm)
East Street Arts, Convention House, St Mary’s St, Leeds, LS9 7DP
Free, everyone welcome
Come and celebrate the culmination of Episode 1 – Tomorrow is our permanent address, the first artist run programme to take over Convention House.
Join us to mark the end of a series of artist residencies, events, interventions and broadcasts from Convention House – East Street Arts’ newly renovated art and tech space. Episode 1 has been developed by artist Marion Harrison in collaboration with over 15 artists to think about the space, the neighbourhood it is part of and the people who we hope will use it for years to come.
The artists have brought the building to life with sound, windmills, performance, conversation, ideas and large scale billboard interventions. We’ve only scratched the surface of what this space could be, and what it can offer to the people who live by it. Episode 1 has laid the foundations for the multi-use studio facilities that Convention House will offer.
We will open its doors at 5pm on 22 November, and 10am on 23 November to celebrate this first project with new works, performances, artist talks and film screenings – so join the party!
Artists involved:
Artists include Laura Grace Ford, Alex De Little with Stuart Mellor, Baile Beyai, Ora Ataguba and Kamal Gamir Shahin (Sable Radio), Ben Dalton with Burak Arikan, Dominic from Luton, Sophie Chapman and Kerri Jefferies with Jon Orlek, Marnie Simpson, Alfie Kungu with Jake Krushell and Marion Harrison.
Convention House is an art and technology space developed by East Street Arts and Associate Artist Marion Harrison through a programme of artist residencies, commissions and interventions.
