From Duke Ellington meeting the Queen to the first ever jazz music course in Europe, Leeds has so many jazz stories to tell. Join JazzLeeds co-founder Steve Crocker to hear about them!

He’ll take you on a tour of jazz in Leeds from well-known heritage venues Studio 20 and the Trades Club in Chapeltown, to the flourishing present day jazz scene.

This tour is part of our Hidden Histories of New Briggate project.

Access information

The tour will take place at Sela bar, which is only accessible by a set of steps and has toilets accessed by a second set of steps. There is no gender neutral toilet. The venue is dimly lit. Seating is available. Following the talk there will be music played, and during the talk there may be some other noises, such as people entering the bar. The venue serves alcohol but non-alcoholic drinks are also available.
