We worked with Xavier de Sousa on residencies as part of our Season for Change and We Need Queer Liberation projects in 2021.

Xavier de Sousa is an independent performance maker and culture worker, based between Brighton and Lisbon.

He explores personal and political heritage in the context of belonging, nationalism and migration through live performances, written text and queer performance and research methodologies.

His evolving trilogy of works that contextualises the lived experiences of migrant communities includes touring theatre show POST and in-development show REGNANT that is set to premiere in 2021. Alongside this work, Xavier curates the digital series queeringborders, live programme performingbordersLIVE and New Queers on the Block, The Marlborough Theatre’s Touring and Artist Development Programme. He is also co-Director of the digital live art platform performingborders and co-founder of Migrants in Culture.
