Do you make books or printed materials on artist-led housing, live/work spaces, civic practice or living archives? Contribute now!

For our exhibition No Going Back we are delving into the East Street Arts archive to explore the role of art and artists in our cities and civic practice. An accompanying programme of events examines the wider history and development of the cultural sector in Leeds and beyond, expanding on artist’s influence on archives, housing, and neighbourhoods.

As books and printed materials will play a prominent role in this project, we want to open it up for external submission and contributions. At East Street Arts, we believe in the power of knowledge and peer-sharing but we are aware that resources, documents and knowledge can get lost when an artist-led space closes or moves. We want to make sure we can safeguard this knowledge.

All donated books will be on display during the exhibition and afterward will be kept in our learning library in Convention House and accessible to the public. We are looking for books, publications and zines related to the main themes of the exhibition and public programme: housing, collective ownership, social role of the arts, socially-engaged art practice, civic practice, artist-led housing, live/work spaces.
