Anita Kumari (she/her) is our Executive Director

Before East Street Arts, I spent 15 years at New Art Exchange (NAE) – the biggest gallery in the UK dedicated to artists and communities from the Global Ethnic Majority – where I advanced to Head of People and Operations. I’ve also got experience across local authority, charity, and the wider arts sectors, specialising in people management, enterprise, and operations. I’m committed to equality and equity, especially within marginalised communities, which aligns well with East Street Arts’ ethos around enhancing access to the arts.

I am passionate about East Street Arts’ impact on social and economic change through inclusive arts. My experience in engaging marginalised communities and fostering access to the arts drives my commitment to support and expand artist-led initiatives, promoting creativity and equity.
