New sculptural and film works by Leeds-based artist Rhian Cooke at Convention House, 27 November to 6 December.
A presentation of new sculptural and film works by Leeds-based artist Rhian Cooke at Convention House, East Street Arts.
Cooke’s work questions the connections between our inner worlds and the networks we inhabit. She films and photographs moments of magic, unease and performance in the spaces and objects around us, then manipulates them physically and digitally.
Thinking about boundaries, safety and vulnerability within physical and digital worlds, the exhibition investigates the tension between them. New materials, including electrical wires, are brought together with objects such as a scooter and hula hoop, which are manipulated into surreal sculptural forms.
Having predominantly worked with moving image in recent years, the domestic-like setting of Convention House allows Cooke to bring the sculptures out of her films and into the physical world.
Entry is free.
