Speak Woman Speak C.I.C and Butterfly in the Head present a day workshop led by Cláudia Simone, a Theatre of the Oppressed practitioner based in France, making her first visit to the UK.

Rooted in the Aesthetics of the Oppressed, the session uses clay as a medium to transform internalised oppressions into something concrete and tangible. Participants will work towards strengthening critical awareness and self-expression, exploring how mechanisms of oppression operate in society and imagining other ways of acting within it.

Cláudia Simone Santos Oliveira was born in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro in 1967. She holds a degree in Pedagogy, a postgraduate qualification in Psychopedagogy, and a Master’s in Ethnic-Racial Relations. She is an international member of Pas à Passo Théâtre de L’Opprimé (France) and TOgether International Theatre Company, and has worked across Europe, Latin America, and Africa. The workshop is open to ages 18 and over. Doors open at 9:30am.
