A first meeting shaping the future of art by racially minoritised communities.

The Anti-Racist Arts Alliance is holding its first meeting at Convention House on Wednesday 15 July, 4pm. The session is organised independently by the Alliance, we’re sharing the details here as space users may want to attend.

This is the first event of its kind, bringing people together to discuss what art by racially minoritised communities looks like, the stories told through that work, and how we can better meet the art needs of different communities, groups and individuals in the future.

Mainstream art spaces can sometimes be off putting for marginalised groups wanting to show their work. This meeting is a step towards an alternative, guided by people in the community, for the community, with a particular interest in how stories about home and belonging are told through art.

This first session is about gathering interest and helping shape the direction of the work to come. It’s aimed at Leeds based communities. If you know someone in your network who’d like to be involved, please pass this along.
