We're excited to be hosting another round of Riso Residencies with 12 artists joining us across May to August.

Working across a range of different practices, the residency will offer artists the opportunity to use our Riso print space to develop work central to themes of Heritage, Community, and Diversity.

Meet the Artists

Andrew Lister

Andrew Lister makes wall-based figurative work. He uses a range of materials including paint, found objects and recycled wood. Paint is used in the traditional way on canvas for portraits and landscapes but is also used at times with other materials in constructed images in which the subjects range from weapons of war to domestic interiors.

 

Luci Pina

Luci’s practice is research driven and looks at the intersections between spirituality, music, black / African identities and cultural heritage – carefully and attentively stitching together the personal, the sentimental and the ancestral.

Poppy Hartley

Poppy is a BA Graphic Communication Design Student, drawn to experimental printing techniques, unusual textures, layered imperfections, and typography.

Hannah Ackroyd

Hannah’s practice-led research explores mnemonic processes, referencing places and their heritage through illustration, bookmaking, photography, and writing. Hannah is interested in how illustration can be used as a method of research to investigate themes such as walking, memory, situatedness, and archiving. Her work considers illustration broadly as a process of ‘recording’: documenting and capturing experience through image making and considering the narrative interplay between different media.

Lily Orset

Lily is a Leeds based print maker and illustrator focusing on non-linear poetic narratives of intimacy and connection in a changing fantastical world. Part memory, part dream their zines and prints illustrate precious moments and lucky charms for readers to hold and turn over in their hands.

David Armes

David Armes is an artist engaged with print, language and geography. He primarily works with letterpress printing and makes artist’s books, prints and installations.

Michael Geary

Michael is an illustrator whose work uncovers hidden histories with empathy. Her works span collage, print, and textiles to create layered pieces, often in the form of zines or art books.

Mia Mai Symonds 

Mia’s practice is engaged with the life of materials and objects, heritage and indigenous material practices, and human-ecology relationships. Her research will often explore materials and objects which are found, unseen, displaced, excavated, collected or archived; continually seeking methodologies for interrogating both our built and natural spaces.

Adam Wright

Adam Wright is a photographer based in Leeds.

Saba Siddiqui

Saba’s practice as a socially engaged multimedia artist has evolved around themes of identity, politics and experiences as a 2nd generation immigrant. I have worked across printmaking, textiles, sculpture, film photography and sound to create multi sensory installations to make for a rich immersive experience.

Mishka Lesayova

Mishka’s Practice is centered around making, researching, exploring and collaborating within the realm natural colour – naturally dyeing and working with a variety of fibres; making natural inks, paints and printing pastes; creating installations and working with communities.

Ruth Stone

Ruth is a multidisciplinary creative from the north of england who addresses themes of identity, community, and belonging through digital and analogue means.
