An architectural listening space for Gair Wood Sounds, developed by Alex De Little with Studio Polpo, at Patrick Studios, Leeds.
Gair Wood Sounds is a long term public artwork built around a continuous live audio stream from Gair Wood, a young woodland north of Leeds. For this instalment, artist Alex De Little has worked with James Harrington of Studio Polpo to prototype an architectural listening space, combining vibrationally driven elements with a multichannel sound system to explore new ways of gathering around live environmental sound and listening together across distance.
The listening space will be installed in the Project Space at Patrick Studios on Tuesday 11 August. Visitors can drop in between 1pm and 7pm, no booking required. In the evening, A Space for Listening at Dusk (8pm to 9.30pm) offers the opportunity to experience the live sounds of Gair Wood as dusk falls across the woodland in real time.
Drop in visits are free. Booking is required for the dusk listening session.
