A dedicated ceramics space for makers and ceramicists in Holbeck.

Barkston Ceramics is situated in Barkston House, a former office building located in the Holbeck area of Leeds. East Street Arts permanently occupies the building, offering the space as artists’ studios to a wide range of local artists. It’s home to a wonderful, vibrant and supportive community of artists creating a dynamic and thriving hub of creative activity.

Established in 2013, Barkston Ceramics was launched to support entrepreneurial makers, responding to the recognised need for a bespoke ceramics facility in the city. The facility is aimed at artists who have some experience of working with or have trained in ceramics or plan to subsidise their making through workshop teaching.

Facilities and services include a part-time technician, two kilns (one front loading, one top loading), a pug mill, wheels, washout sinks, purpose-built mobile drying storage, and group workspaces.
