Patrick Studios is a bespoke centre for artists and provides up to 34 quality studio spaces, with additional resource areas, large project space and the East Street Arts headquarters. It is unique since it addresses artists’ need for structured support outside of academic institutions and fosters an ethos of professional development. It is a place for artists endeavouring to be professional in their chosen discipline and it is expected that a reciprocal culture will evolve whereby new relationships and collaborations are established and careers can flourish.

Workspace details and costs:

Spaces at Patrick Studios ranging between £95 – £250 per calendar month (as of  February 2011). There are two basic kinds of spaces in the building; a small number of open-unit studios in a shared mezzanine area, and individually accessed spaces. The spaces range in size and dimension, and include some or all of the following features:

- Sandblasted brickwork, white painted stud walls, wooden floors (at ground level the floors are concrete)
- Good natural light in majority of spaces, many of the spaces have large areas of window
- Fluorescent lighting
- Larger than standard doors with individual swipe access
- Well provided with standard double electrical sockets. Building has three-phase electricity
- Each space has a dedicated phone line and internet connection which can be connected by the studio holder at their own cost
- Wireless internet connection available throughout the building

The monthly studio fee includes:

- Affordable purpose built quality work space that can house a range of different media and sized work
- 24 hour access to studios and resource area
- Centralised resource area with up to date publications, journals, and bulletin board
- Access to IT facilities and training
- Project space with load bearing floor
- Meeting room
- Kiln room*
- Darkroom
- Participation in Artist Development Programme and annual progress meetings*
- Daily access to experienced art professionals and practitioners- access to projects and events as part of East Street Arts Public Programme
- Strong sense of community and identity via communal area
- Access to networks locally, nationally and internationally

*Extra costs would be incurred for kiln firings
*Development programme and progress meetings are mandatory to having a space at Patrick Studios

The monthly licence fee is payable by standing order. In addition there is a returnable deposit of £100. Licence holders are responsible for their own studio costs and are responsible for adherence to all health and safety issues relating to their own practice. Patrick Studios has a No Smoking policy throughout the building. Each occupant will be required to have an induction and is expected to follow basic housekeeping rules regarding security.
