Convention House, St Mary’s Lane, Leeds

Join Netherlands-based artists Chiara Tammaro, Tom Dijkstra and Sijas de Groot at the end of their two-week residencies to hear about their visits.
During their stay, Chiara and Tom are exploring the similarities and differences between artistic landscapes in the UK and the Netherlands. They are aiming to collect visual and audio data of the places they visit based on the role and function of artist-led spaces, and studio policies. Their aim is to create a sensory map of art spaces in Leeds and Groningen, via a 3D scan of the environment and a sound recording with the people. Chiara and Tom will share the visualisations and sound recordings of their trip.
Sijas’ focus is on engaging with key stakeholders in the local community to deepen his understanding of the city, its inhabitants, the public space and its social context. He is working with Mafwa Theatre (based in Patrick Studios) and our team to explore inequality of opportunity, with a particular focus on gentrification, inclusivity, immigration and segregation. Sijas present the results of his research and the stories gathered during his stay.
5.30pm – Light refreshments
