East Street Arts has developed a strategic programme of temporary space use based on our charitable status that both supports the work of the organisation and provides significant opportunities to artists and people working in the creative industries.
Our temporary spaces team has the highest level of expertise and understanding in the area of temporary charitable occupation of buildings. We have been managing temporary spaces since 2010 and we have worked with landlords and agents with significant property holdings who continue to make space available for us to use. We are now the largest provider of temporary space for artistic use across England and Wales. We have an excellent reputation with local authorities who recognise the benefit of what we do.
East Street Arts have developed great competence in the work they do and have developed a model that can be successfully applied in other local authority areas. Their work supports several town council objectives including the promotion of the arts, enterprise and stimulating vitality in the town centre recognising the importance of the creative sector in the wider regeneration of the area.’
Andrew Tate – Economic Development Manager, Gateshead Council
We will consider different types of buildings for a multitude of uses, from light industrial and office to retail units. An example of users of the spaces would be dancers and theatre groups looking for rehearsal space or designers and artists looking for a studio. All the artists we work with are members of our organisation.
East Street Arts is keen to develop new relationships, so if you are a landlord or property agent, and you would like to work with us we would like to hear from you.
