‘Hello & Welcome To Leeds’ Short Film – The Making of the Mural

Illustrator, muralist and East Street Arts member Nathan Evans recently painted his largest and most ambitious mural to date. The huge 30+ meter public artwork, which spans the full length of Leeds Outdoor Market is a hand-painted typography piece reading ‘Hello & Welcome To Leeds’. The project was commissioned by Leeds City Council in partnership with Leeds BID.

The traditional hand-painted lettering references the Victorian origins of the market and is supported by a vibrant colour palette with precise geometric backgrounds that reflect the modern regeneration coming to that area of the city. The mural is now viewable to the public on George Street, opposite Victoria Gate and the new John Lewis development.

“I used the project as a perfect opportunity to collaborate with some local creatives and independent businesses, to create something amazing for the people of Leeds and also the city itself.” Nathan Evans – Illustrator
