My work deals with the human body and the manifestation of consciousness through it. I’m interested in how the mind affects the body both in texture and form. Fairly recently I started a project that applies these ideas to human bones. In my practice I mainly work with glass, paint and charcoal. My drawings and paintings are largely figurative, whereas my glass sculpture usually takes on abstract forms.
I gained my MA in Glass at the University of Sunderland, based in the National Glass Centre where I was able to experiment and explore the characteristics of glass in the company of many national and international artists. I’ve gone on to exhibit at the International Glass Biennale in Stourbridge and SOFA exhibition in New York and managed to add my piece ‘Group’ to an important glass collection in the North East.
