Leeds Zine Fair 2012 | 4 Nov

Leeds’ zine-happy radical printing co-operative Footprint are organising another Leeds Zine Fair!

Venue: Wharf Chambers
23-25 Wharf Street, Leeds LS2 7EQ
Dates and Times:
Sunday 4th November
(12:00 noon – 6:00pm, with a gig afterwards)

Last time Footprint were at Leeds University and had nearly fifty stalls of zinesters and radical campaigns. This time they’ve got a city centre location (good for you out-of-towners) that’s also a co-operative. There will, as you’d expect, be stalls selling zines, but Footprint will provide lots more too! This will include:

• Zine readings
• Salford Zine Library showing their film “Self-Publishers of the World Take Over”, introduced by its maker and the library’s curator Craig John Barr.
• Melanie from Shape & Situate doing an exhibition and talk about her posters of inspirational women
• A ‘one-off’ stall for zinesters who don’t need a whole table. Just bring along your one or two and there’s free space for you to flog your wares. If you’d like to do a short shift staffing that table it’d be good, but if not you’re just as welcome to put your zines on it.
• Lots of vegan cakes!
• Workshops on technical stuff to do with practicalities and printing, but also on other DIY activities and politics too. No matter what’s in it, every zine is political in the way it takes control and doesn’t seek to maximise market share or pander to advertisers. Footprint will certainly be doing a workshop on how to set up a workers’ co-operative, taking control of your workplace and living without bosses.

Then at 6pm we shut the zine fair and open the bar until 11pm*. There’ll be bands including The Copyscams, Endless Rope and Radio Partizan.

Want to be part of it?

If you’d like a stall, they are charging £10 a table. Fill in their online booking form (you’re only booked once you’ve paid).
If you’d like to do a workshop, or have any questions or suggestions, drop them a line or give them a call on 0113 262 4408. Footprint have voiced that they are instigating this but it’s a DIY event, so it will be as good as the punters make it!
