How do you handle your 8.45 when your man is in a firefight with the Taleban on Breakfast News? Can six months respite from shaving your legs ever make up for half a year spooning a hot water bottle?
Jo has to learn all these things when her partner, Steve, deploys to Afghanistan…And while he dodges IED’s, Jo is left to deal with her own unexploded device : her future mother in law!
Secrets and lies detonate in this life-affirming new play written by the wife of a serving Marine. In the winter that Military Wives topped the charts, Encore Drama’s production of Jo’s War will lift the lid on the impact of deployment for an unseen army of women in 2012.

Hello folks!
Thank you for promoting ‘Jo’s War’ I hope the word gets around & we fill the space at The Carriage Works.
Rehearsals are going swell, I play the part of Jo & Rachel Vernell play’s my step-mother Sue. It’s such an eye opener for me, especially when we went to Catterick Garrison & met some of the Army wifes. They were really helpful & open, sharing some of their most personal issues.
I find drawing on my own materal experiences very helpful when getting into the role of Jo the expectant mother.
Really cannot wait for our opening night at The Carriage Works & to see the look on Lucy Bell’s face after the performance!!!
Kind Regards,
Jenny x
