BIKE FEST : July 2013 Leeds (city-wide)
East Street Arts have just announced a series of city-wide arts events to be held across Leeds in the run up to the Grand Depart of 2014’s Tour de France.
Inspired by cycling and pedal-power, Bike Fest will be a celebration of cycling in the city, featuring artists from across the UK.
Workshops for Bike Fest start in January, and artists will be commissioned for July’s events from the New Year. Bike Fest is described by East Street Arts’ Creative Director Jon Wakeman as “a festival for people with a passion for pedaling in Leeds”.
Bike Fest aims to raise awareness about cycling in the city, and to encourage Leeds to become more a more cycle-friendly environment. The festival is open to anyone who is interested in cycling, and wants to get involved with the event. A call for expressions of interest will be announced in January 2013.
