Kate Haywood: Japanese Disasters & Japanese Ceramics | 8 Nov
Kate Haywood invites you to her studio to decorate your very own Japanese drinking vessel. This exciting ceramics workshop is not to be missed
Times:
Tuesday 8th November
Meet & Eat 5.30pm. Talk starts 6.00pm
Venue: Patricks Studios
St Marys Lane, Leeds, LS9 7EH
Charge: £5 per person

Kate would like to invite you to her studio to decorate your own pre-fired yunomi (Japanese drinking vessel). Japanese potters are holding sales of yunomi to raise funds for their countrymen left bereft after the series of catastrophic events in Fukoshima. This area is comparable to Stoke-on-Trent for Japan with a large number of people dependant on ceramics for their livelihood. Kate has been assured by Japanese friends that although the disaster has disappeared from European news it is still a considerable issue in Japan with many people homeless and lacking basic necessities.
To show our support for these people we would like to make a small contribution to the relief fund. A charge of £5 will be made for each vessel, including decoration and firing. Your finished masterpiece will be ready to collect within two weeks. A collection box will be available for anyone wishing to make additional contributions to the relief fund.
This event requires you to pre-book a place due to limited space and resources. There are only 15 spaces available, so if you would like to attend please contact Lotte Shaw on lotte [at] esamail.org.uk
