Le Tourne Bride (Closing Event) – 21 rue Croix, 59134 Herlies, France

For their Velo Café Residency in Lille, Lucy Carolan and Richard Glynn will create a new version of their project Mutascope, working with local sources and using recycled bicycle parts to build a mutascope mechanism as a viewing device for a bespoke photo-based animation flipbook that they will create from images gathered during her time in Lille. The resulting object in itself – as a ‘book’ you can sit on and manually operate – is at once a sculptural object and an interactive experience.

Lucy and Richard’s residency will take place at Herlies, a small town near Lille. They will creating their work based in the village school and present the results in a closing event at Le Tourne Bride on Saturday 24th of October.

Supported by East Street Arts and L’Entorse. The project Velo Café Renaissance is a project by L’Entorse and Kraft and it consists of a programme of events inspired by bikes and cycling that will take place in various cafes across Lille and that will coincide with the cultural programme Lille3000.

This project is part of a new partnership project between East Street Arts (Leeds), l’Entorse (Lille, France) and Vooruit (Ghent, Belgium) entitled Ex[s]ports, and funded by EU – Creative Europe.
